Volcanic in origin, the name Larimar comes from the discovers Daughter's name Lari and Mar meaning ocean for the color. Discovered in a remote mountain top in the Caribbean, native islanders mine with only pick and shovel, the blue gemstone called Larimar.  The Gemological Institute of America has identified Larimar as a gemstone "not found anywhere else in the world.
