Metavariscite is the very rare translucent emerald green cousin of the mineral variscite, and is found only in Northern Utah. Cut metavariscite gemstones from Box Elder County, Utah, with their green jelly appearance, are unequaled by variscite from any other locality.
Variscite also called utahlite, some times utahlite is looked upon as a separate mineral and not as a synonym for variscite. Can be confused with chrysocolla, chrysoprase and turquoise. Metavariscite can be confused with Fine Chrysophrase or Imperial jade.
